Historically, myxopapillary ependymoma has been considered a benign neoplasm, often cured with surgical resection. However, this manuscript questions this dogma.
The outcome of a series of sixteen pediatric patients diagnosed with myxopapillary ependymoma are reported, with higher recurrence noted in those with subtotal resection and in those who did not receive radiation. Treatment was well tolerated with stable or improved symptoms in those treated with surgery and/or radiation.
